A private transfer to Koh Kood are probably the easiest way to get there from Bangkok.
However, unlike Koh Chang, there aren’t any vehicle ferries to either Koh Mak or Koh Kood. So, the transfer will end at one of the mainland piers at Laem Ngop or Laem Sok. From there you take a passenger boat to Koh Kood or speedboat to Koh Mak.
There are door to door service from hotels in central Bangkok areas, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport runs to the mainland piers at Laem Ngop and Laem Sok. Speedboats to Koh Mak leave from Laem Ngop and speedboats and passenger boats to Koh Kood ( and also Koh Mak ) depart from Laem Sok.
Why Take a Private Transfer to Koh Kood?
Flying to Trat Airport takes under an hour from Suvarnabhumi Airport and is the quickest way to get to Koh Kood or Koh Mak. However, as Bangkok Airways own the airport and operate all the flights, prices tend to expensive. Especially when compared to the prices for budget flights from Bangkok to the north and south of Thailand.
Expect to pay 2,500 – 4,500 Baht per person during High Season. Plus the taxi fare from central Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi and transport from Trat Airport to the mainland piers.
The cheapest options are buses and minibuses. If you are going to Koh Mak then there are a couple of buses that will drop you off at Krom Luang pier for speedboats to Koh Mak. But most people will have to either take a pick up truck taxi from the ferry piers for Koh Chang or Trat bus station to Krom Luang pier.
The last boat to Koh Kood is mid afternoon, many people who are travelling by public bus from Bangkok will decide to stay the night in Trat. As they won’t want to leave Bangkok early enough to be sure of making the last ferry.
Ferry operators now sell combined bus and ferry tickets which guarantee you will get to the island the same day. These will be cheaper than taking a private transfer if you’re travelling solo or as a couple. The main downside is that the pick up time from central Bangkok is very early morning and is from a designated pick up point rather than your hotel. These options are below . . .

So, a private transfer by car or minibus allows you to be picked after breakfast and will ensure that you can get to the islands the same day. With no need to set your alarm for 5am, have a night in Trat town or hop on and off buses and pick up truck taxis.
How Long Does It Take to Get from Bangkok to Koh Kood?
From the centre of Bangkok to Krom Luang pier (for Koh Mak) is around 5 hours. 30 minutes less if you are coming from Suvarnabhumi. 30 minutes more if you are coming from Don Meuang. However, this does depend on traffic in Bangkok and road conditions on the way. Plus how often you decide to stop for a break during the journey.
If you are going to Koh Kood, add on an additional 30 minutes driving time to Laem Sok pier which is located on a peninsula south of Trat town.

For transfers by minivan, additional passengers are charged 100 Baht per person, to a maximum of 7 passengers plus luggage per minibus.

There aren’t any vehicle ferries to Koh Kood. But if you have booked from Koh Kood the boat ticket will be included. Most likely the transport from your hotel on Koh Kood to the pier is also included. Check the booking.

There arent any vehicle ferries to Koh Kood. So you have to take a passenger boat to the mainland pier at Laem Sok and the driver will meet you there. You can buy boat tickets online or at your hotel on Koh Kood. If you want to be at the airport before 18:30. You should book tickets for a boat that arrives before 12:30. No. The first ferry off Koh Kood arrives at the mainland pier at 10:00. You should plan on leaving the island the day before and staying the night at a hotel near the airport.

The earliest pick up time is 05:00. So you would be at the pier by about 10:30

Hi Christine. It’s about 5 hours from the airport to the mainland pier. The last boat is the 16:00 Seudamgo Ferry.
So you would need to leave the airport by 10:30 to be sure of being on it.
So a flight arriving around 09:00 – 09:30 should be OK. Assuming no delays.

Hi Giuseppina. You should allow 5 to 5 and a half hours for the transfer. The boat company will tell passengers to arrive at the pier at least 30 minutes early. So if you are picked up at 06:30 you will be at the pier in plenty of time for the 12:30 boat.

For 9 people plus luggage you will need two minibuses. The price from Bangkok to Laem Sok pier, Trat is 4,900 Baht per minibus = 9,400 Baht total. And from Laem Sok to Bangkok there’s a 500 Baht discount for booking the return transfer, so 4,400 Baht per vehicle = 8,800 Baht total.
Prices don’t include tickets for passenger boats to Koh Kood.
