Koh Kut Express boat to Koh Kood island

Koh Kood Express is a large, high speed passenger ferry which can seat 140 people in air-conditioned comfort. The service runs year round between Laem Sok pier and Ao Salat in the northeast of Koh Kood.  As with the other boat services, transport is provided from hotels in Trat to the pier and also from the pier on Koh Kood to your resort, is included in the 500 Baht / person ticket price.

In late 2022, the ticket price was increased from 350 Baht, which it had been for many years, to 500 Baht due to the increase in fuel prices and fewer tourists post-covid.  And, from 7 October onwards there will be two passenger boat services daily during 2022 – 2023 high season.  One of which is a new catamaran.

For passengers who want to go from the mainland to Koh Mak or from Koh Mak to Koh Kood or the mainland, there is one service a day in each direction.  The 09:30 boat from Koh Kood stops at Koh Mak, as does the 11:30 boat from Laem Sok.  Ticket prices between Koh Mak and Laem Sok or Koh Kood are 450 Baht per person.

Back in 2015, the boat company took over Siriwhite Speedboat and re-branded it as Ko Kut Express Speedboat.  In late 2019 the existing speedboat was replaces with a new, larger speedboat.  This has a catamaran type hull for extra stability and three, 200HP 4 stroke outboard motors.  This runs once a day in each direction during the High Season.

Free transport from the pier at Ao Salat, Koh Kood to hotels on the island is included in the ticket price.  So there’s no need to pay your resort to pick you up or drop you off at the pier.

The Koh Kood Express speedboat may seem to be faster, but note that this service goes via Koh Mak.  And so the total time taken from the mainland to Koh Kood will be about that same as the large ferry.  The advantage is is the best option for visitors who want to maximize their time on the island.

If you want to be first to arrive and the last to leave, then the speedboat is the best way to travel.  It departs Laem Sok at 10am, arriving on Koh Kood around 11 to 11.30am, depending on the sea conditions and where you are staying.

The Koh Kood Express speedboat will drop you off at your resort’s pier.  (The boat drops off a resorts on the west of Koh Kood as far south as Bangbao Bay.  If you are staying further south, you’ll need to get your resort to pick you up from there.)

And, for the return trip, you’ll also be picked up from your resort pier at around 3 to 3.30pm, depending on where you are staying.

NEW Bangkok to Koh Kood Boat & Bus Service

From 1 October 2023 – 30 May 2024, Koh Kood Express will be running a combined bus and boat service from Bangkok to hotels on Koh Kood.

There are two buses a day at 06:00 from Khao San Road and 07:00 from Suvarnabhumi Airport.  Ticket price is 1,000 Baht per person. The service from Suvarnabhumi can be booked online here.

The return trip leaves Koh Kood at 11:30 and arrives in Bangkok at 18:30

For passengers staying in Trat, a shuttle service by ‘songtaew’ (local pick up truck tax ) to the pier is provided.  This costs 40 Baht per person and is not included in the price of the boat ticket. You pay the driver. If you buy boat tickets from your hotel, they’ll advise you of the time.  Or if you’re booking online, make sure you let the agent or boat company know the name of your hotel and they’ll arrange this for you.

Note that the speedboat sometimes departs and arrives at the smaller ‘Coral pier’, on the eastern side of the peninsula,  about 5 minutes drive from the main Laem Sok pier.  This is usually dependent on the weather.  On calm days it will moor at the main pier, on windier days at the sheltered Coral pier.

The speedboat services drop off at piers at or near resorts on the island.  The passenger ferry moors at Ao Salat and the ticket price includes transport between the pier to your hotel.

Ask your hotel reception to call Koh Kood Express to check they know you are staying there and ask what time you will be picked up.

The Koh Kood Express office number is 0877490030

Unfortunately not possible as there aren’t any boat services from Koh Kood to Koh Pha Ngan.

You have to take a boat back to the mainland and then by road to Bangkok. Then head to the south of Thailand by bus, train or plane.

Sorry, I can’t arrange a private speedboat for you. Your resort on Koh Kood will be able to arrange that. The price is usually around 15,000 – 18,000 Baht
